Welcome to the 2014 DAC Theatre Season!
I first want to take the opportunity to thank a few people. First, our Season Sponsor Alpine Bank. We truly could not have successful seasons without their support. We are very fortunate to have such a business who is so dedicated to supporting SO MANY organizations and events on our community. I do encourage you to support Alpine Bank and help them help us. Please see section below on how you can do that! Second, I would like to thank our season subscribers of 2013 – thank you for taking the risk in supporting DAC’s first ever theatre season. We could not have done it without you. And if you weren’t a season subscriber in 2013, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon, and join us for season #2!
It is DAC Theatre’s mission to provide entertaining, professional, and quality theatre to Durango and the surrounding communities. We are also committed to fostering a collaborative spirit by inviting local theatre artists and other companies to join our artistic community here at DAC. Therefore, this season we have two collaborations including both Merely Players and Fort Lewis College Theatre. And in our theatre fundraiser Love Letters, we will bring to the stage favorite Durango locals who you may never have seen on stage before!
DAC Theatre also feels it is important to give back. Look for our special Mother’s and Father’s day offerings, two pieces which will be performed as a benefit for Hospice of Mercy. These pieces are created by and acting by new and veteran local actors from our community, and will afford us a special and inspired way to honor all mothers and fathers.
Overall, our mission is to join the forces of creativity, collaboration, and community – and this means you! We can all agree that a beautiful painting, a dance, or a moving play can capture the human spirit and engage our imagination. It is an audience, after all, which moves a piece of art from being an inert object to one of movement and meaning. So this year, I encourage you to close the computer or put down the remote control and step into the world of theatre at the Durango Arts Center. I invite you to become an audience member for one or all of our shows and prepare to be moved, entertained, and enlightened!
