“Before there was BRIDESMAIDS, there was FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS.”
Set in the early 90’s during an ostentatious wedding reception at a Knoxville, Tennessee, estate, five reluctant, identically clad, bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the proceedings below. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent, and touching celebration of the strength of female camaraderie. Ball’s play was chosen as “one of the year’s ten best shows” by critics around the country, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and Rolling Stone.
Special Fundraising Performance: DAC is teaming up with Women’s Resource Center for a special viewing of Five Women….to benefit WRC and supply scholarships for adults for visual and performing arts classes at DAC!
