Artist's Reception: Jul 25, 2008
July 16 - 29 Dust off your old treasures and bring it in to the Durango Arts Center for a tax break and change of scenery. We have reserved Tuesday, July 29th so we can enjoy the New Auditorium. Reception and silent auction bidding start at 5:30 followed by entertainment and live auction.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday before (July 25-27) are Preview Days, in which we expect to have "Buy It Now" items and will also accept bids for "Silent Auction" items.
We are accepting donations anytime during regular gallery hours, Tues - Sat 10 to 5 now through July 24.
We are hoping to showcase talent in this auction as well as raise funds for promoting DAC Exhibits and Artists throughout the year.
You can feel free to donate artwork that is your own or others. This is our first auction of this type. We're hoping for quality works of art, 2 and 3-D works, as well as elegant crafts, like handmade furniture, quilts, pottery, jewelry, etc... that you no longer need and others will appreciate. Quality and Presentation are key. We want this to be first class.
I'd like you to attach a 3 x 5 card, or similar, with a short note that tells us something personal about the works you are donating. These words would be read before the bidding. Perhaps a story about the gift and how it came to be or whatever else you feel you would like the audience to know.
The response to this auction -- donations and attendance -- may help us determine a future course for events of this nature. The Durango Arts Community went above and beyond last year, with the collaborative auction, and we are grateful to all of you for your outstanding contributions and generosity. This year, we chose to simplify the event, not to minimize it, but rather to make it easier for more to participate.
