Dance
Just Move! A fun exploration of movement through a variety of teacher guided exercises, activities and techniques.
Reader’s Theater
Reader’s Theater is a presentation by two or more participants who read from scripts and interpret a literary work in such a way that the audience imaginatively senses characterization, setting, and action through the reader’s articulation, fluency, and voice inflection. In Reader’s Theater, participants speak directly to the audience and involve them in the story being told. Voice and body tension rather than movement are involved, thus eliminating the many rehearsals that timing and actions techniques require in the presentation of a play. This class will stimulate the student’s curiosity and ultimately inspire them to keep on reading. Reader’s Theater builds oral presentation skills and increases enjoyment of all types of literature as well as encouraging students to work together as a group enhancing cooperation, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills. Reader’s Theater students will come to understand the discipline of theater and performance technique. The program will culminate with an entertaining and fun performance enjoyed by the performers and audience members. Supplemental activities will include short sessions of creative movement, theater games and voice strengthening activities, exercises, activities and techniques.
