Theresa A. Carson oversees the creative productions, supervises the DAC Applause! performing arts education program and rental utilization of the theater and gallery spaces. Theresa’s experience in the performing arts stems from a broad career in academia, professional and community theater. She acted as the Director of Theatre at San Juan College and the Artistic Director of Sandstone Productions (both in Farmington, NM), as well as visiting faculty member of the Fort Lewis College Theatre Department. Theresa originally moved to Durango from Moorhead, Minnesota, where she was an assistant professor in the Theater Arts Department at Minnesota State University for four years. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Theresa earned an MFA in directing from the University of Utah. She most recently directed Little Shop of Horrors; Glengarry Glen Ross; Sweeney Todd; Wit; Urinetown, the Musical and The Importance of Being Earnest for the San Juan College Theater Department; Joseph…Dreamcoat, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun for Sandstone Productions. DAC productions Theresa has directed: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2014), Always…Patsy Cline (2010 & 2015), Beehive (2012) and the much anticipated musical, Rent (2015) and Fool for Love (2016).
