After School Art

Offered at all Durango 9R Elementary SchoolsDurango-9R-Logo

The After School Art program was created to cultivate and support youth creativity through visual arts, writing and drama. The arts are a universal language that is essential to the development of creative thinking, self-expression and problem solving. The arts strengthen self-confidence, aesthetic awareness, sensitivity and the ability for better self-understanding. The arts teach honesty, kindness, compassion, respect, responsibility and what it means to be human.

The Durango Arts Center maintains a high quality program with teaching artists that are educated in and enthusiastic about the arts. Class size is limited to 12 students to ensure personalized attention. DAC aligns itself with State of Colorado education standards when planning our innovative and fun projects.
