Durango Arts Center Members are invited to enter one piece of artwork of any medium in the non-juried annual exhibit. No entry fee required – artist must be a current member of the Durango Arts Center to take part. As selected by a members’ survey and vote last year, this year’s theme will be “Identity”. We hope all artists will find this an broad opportunity to be inspired by self reflection and expression around concept of ”Identity”.

“Identity is the way we perceive and express ourselves. Factors and conditions that an individual is born with—such as ethnic heritage, sex, or one’s body—often play a role in defining one’s identity. However, many aspects of a person’s identity change throughout his or her life. People’s experiences can alter how they see themselves or are perceived by others. Conversely, their identities also influence the decisions they make: Individuals choose their friends, adopt certain fashions, and align themselves with political beliefs based on their identities. Many artists use their work to express, explore, and question ideas about identity.”

– Definition from The Museum of Modern Art, NYC, NY

Although this exhibit is not juried, there will be cash prizes for Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd Place winners. These will be selected by the DAC Executive Director and Board President. The selected artwork will be reproduced (1000 prints) and distributed to all Chamber members.
