Brenda Macon, Executive Director

Brenda is an in demand creative who has travelled all her life in between two worlds: Art and business. As owner of Overall Art, LLC, she has instructed over a thousand students of all ages in the Durango, CO area and painted for exclusive private art collectors from all over the world. She is a graduate from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM, and pursued her MFA at Eastern Michigan University. 

Brenda’s superpower is bringing confidence to others and motivating them to thrive in the context of a larger scope. She also has a knack for turning small programs into larger ones through development and advocacy.

Having grown up in Michigan, her early career in business was as the Executive Director for Leadership: Ann Arbor. She managed her family’s law practice and volunteered as a certified Mediator. After moving to Colorado in 2005, she served in schools, non-profit and for profit organizations including the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, the Strater Hotel, Fort Lewis College, Mountain Middle School, and served on non-profit boards and committees at the Powerhouse Science Center, Rocky Mountain Animation Labs, and the Volunteers Association of America. She has been an active member with the Durango Friends of the Arts and the Durango Arts Center for over a decade. She is ready to bring the talent of Durango to the world stage and intends to make the Durango Arts Center the creative hub of the Southwest.
