American artist Jil McGurn was born in Chicago, IL in 1943 and moved to Ne Mexico with her family in the early 1950s. Jil is primarily a self-taught artist with roots from an artistic mother. She has a love of the magic of light and the way things look. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature; the assurance that dawn comes after night and spring comes after winter. Art opens our eyes to see and our brain to imagine and it is the artist’s job to imagine the most impossible things.
There are places I return to over and over again going deeper. A relationship with a place or person is made in layers over a long time. Staying in one place makes me more aware of change. It all begins with a point of light.
